HIGH SCHOOL LIFE IN NEW YORK

NEW LIFE BEGINS IN HILLCREST HIGH SCHOOL
The High School i went was called Hillcrest High School. This Hillcrest High School consisted of many students coming from different countries. Which means, a lot of immigrant students who were willing to study lol. The school also has a lot of students who were American citizens. American citizens doesn’t mean that the people should always be white people. Black people were included too=D. I would like to inform you that I am NOT a racist type. I like to be friend with anyone, no matter what country you came from, you guys may enter my friend list=D.
FREE SCHOOL REGISTRATION. NO PAYMENT!!
Anyway, to register was easy. There weren’t any registration fee lol. We just showed our passport and our purposes in NY and thats it. Filled up the student application form and I’m a High School Student. The US Government sponsor lol. Hahaha. That was easy. Well, before I entered the class, there was a test. An english test lol. Quite simple one. An English teacher gave me a topic and she asked me to write an essay in front of her. My sis and I did the essay and she read ours. She said the spelling needed to be changed because we were living in NY, not in Malaysia. Malaysia followed the british system while NY followed the US system. The spelling part, I needed to change lol. Then, she thought for a long time and decide to put me and my sis in an Intermediate English Class. Wa lao, Intermediate? I put everything what I got. Everything what I learned so far in English and they put me in Intermediate? Wow, I bet the English over there was freaking high lol!
GOT MY HIGH SCHOOL ID CARD. CLASS BEGINS!!
Well, I received my High School Id card and I entered my classes. Owh yeah, all my classes were the same as my sis lol. Hahaha. Idk why but well, all the classes I had when I was in grade 9 (freshman year) were the same as my sister had. We were kinda different and many people asked a lot of stuff on us. Like “How are you?, Where did you came from?, How can you speak English so well in a short time? Why are you in this school?” kinda like these questions all the time. Well, the best part was we came to our class and after the bell ring, we have to move out lol. Like in Malaysia, we have to stay in our class, right? and the teacher will come, am I right? But in NY, we have to move around. Each class is like 45 minutes and when the bell rung, we have to move and get into our class not more than 5 minutes lol. If you come more than that time, probably the teacher will lock the door. If the teacher is ok, you will be able to get in but the teacher will ask you a few questions like “Why are you late? Do you have any letter that made you late?” Kinda like that. Hahaha=D. My sis and I managed to enter all the classes on time.
TRYING TO FIT IN DURING SCHOOL TIME WITH OTHER AMERICANS~
During the lunch time, this one was tricky. Damn, the canteen was so crowded and a lot of people talking shits, cursing each other, friendly fight and hitting someone without any reason. Luckily my friends were there so I chilled with them. Well, I was a nice, kind and shy guy lol. Not too fashionable and the way I dressed was kinda like a simple guy with no matching in colors lol.
FREE BREAKFAST AND LUNCH MEALS. hehehe. NO NEED TO PAY~
Well, to get the food in the canteen, we needed to fill up the lunch form. This lunch form allowed me to get the food free=D. Like in Malaysia we have to pay all the time but this canteen, Wa lao, every food was free except the vending machine lol. They only part they give us the food for free if our father’s income was less than $2000. If more than that, we have to pay a quarter everyday lol. That will be $0.25 a day. My dad’s income was more than $5000. So yeah, looks like we had to pay lol. Well, paying $0.25 was nothing but the food were great!. You get to choose any food you desire=D. For the breakfast meal, a chocolate milk will be compulsory and you can choose any meal you wanted for breakfast. Ummmm….like pancakes, waffles, bagels, doughnuts, cereals, fruits, toaster bread, yogurt and much more! All of them were free lol. The 25 cent was for the lunch. The meal for the lunch were basically like milk (of course!), choose either french fries or onion rings, cheese pizza, hamburger, cheeseburger, chicken rice, curry chicken, chicken/fish nuggets, beef steaks and fillet o fish.
STUPID MUSLIM PEOPLE EAT HARAM FOOD. HATE HATE HATE!!!!
Well, since I’m muslim and couldn’t eat non-Halal food like meat and chicken, the only thing I can eat were cheese pizza, fish nuggets and fillet o fish lol. That’s all. Well, my other stupid muslim friends who didn’t care about Halal or not, they ate lol. To be honest, that wasn’t right and they weren’t the perfect muslims. They just don’t care lol. Well, to know the difference between Halal and non-Halal is that Halal food are food that were slaughtered gently at the animal's throat in the name of our god, ALLAH. For non-Halal, they killed with machines or hands or anything just like that without saying anything. For example, a cow. To make its meat Halal, we would make a small deep cut on the throat at the same time, we will cite an arabian language and later, leave the cow the way it is. Let the cow move for the last time and all of a sudden, blood will come out and by that time, the cow would stop. That is what you call a gentle slaughter=D. Wa lao, change topic!!!!!. As for my muslim friends, they said "dont worry. We can make the food Halal. You want to know? First read Al-Fatihah and POOF, already Halal". Damn~. I felt speechless and told them that is the wrong way to do so but they dont care of my advices. Huhuhu
NEED A PASS NOTE TO GO TO THE RESTROOM
Anyway, my classes started at 8:01am and ended at 3:36pm. Kinda long but it was alright for me.=D For the bathroom purposes, you need to get a pass from your teacher. Last time when I was in Freshman year, which is grade 9, I asked my teacher for a permission. I left the classroom and then, she called me to enter back the room. She was my English teacher. Her name was Mrs. Heffez. She used to teach English in a College in France but later became a teacher in this school. I didn’t know the reason but she was a great and awesome teacher. Anyway, she said to me “Mr. Safwan, are you out of your mind? Why did you leave the class like that after I’m not finish talking to you?”. I said “Umm, the only thing I wanted is to get your permission. I need to go to the restroom straight away. It’s an emergency.” Later, she said to me while smiling “Owh wow, you don’t know the school rules?”. I said “nope, not at all”. She said “Well, if you want to leave the classroom, you need a pass. A pass slip. This pass I’m holding is the pass where you can go out of this class for a short time. I will sign this pass and I need your sign too. You may go to the restroom now. Bring this pass along with you. Many security guards walk around to catch any students who cut classes. If they see you in the hallway, show the pass to them and they allow you to walk. If you wander around for a long time, they will catch you, take your ID and bring you to the discipline room at room 161….and believe it or not, I’m one of the discipline teacher”. BLOODY HELL, I felt shocked lol. I thought she was an English teacher but wow, a discipline teacher too? Wa lao, that even make me more scary lol.
TOO MANY NYPD POLICES GUARDING EVERY FLOOR IN THIS SCHOOL
When I entered the school, there were many NYPD security guards that guard the school. Well, I found out that my school was on the top 20 crime school lol. Hahaha.
